TWO YEAR OLDS OF 2004

The foal crop of 2002 reached two years of age at the start of 2004 and already they have been broken and have entered into training for the upcoming season. McSwoosh (Meadowlake-Bel Ray) and Northern Tales (Tale of the Cat-Tres Norte) received their early training at Indian River Ranch; Bold Leadership (Charismatic-Audacity), and Tapalong (Pleasant Tap-Love Bird) are being prepared at New Episode Training Center. They'll soon be sent to their trainers for final training and breezing leading up to their first race. The date of their first race will depend upon their progress; some will race this year and others may not be ready until next year.

McSWOOSH, g, 2 (MEADOWLAKE - BEL RAY by Restivo) In training at: Indian Prairie Ranch Racing Trainer: Linda Rice McSwoosh is intelligent and trains deliberately although he is capable of showing his Irish temper on occasion. His sire, Meadowlake, produces precocious runners and his dam, Bel Ray, won the NJ Futurity, so we expect him to be an early bloomer.

NORTHERN TALES, f, 2 (TALE OF THE CAT - TRES NORTE by Northern Baby) In training at: Indian Prairie Ranch Racing Trainer: Jim Ryerson Northern Tales, the lone filly of this year's crop, is very trainable and has a mellow disposition. Because she has Storm Cat in her male-line, we expect her to have good speed but also be able to go long.

BOLD LEADERSHIP, c, 2 (CHARISMATIC - AUDACITY by Chief's Crown) In training at: New Episode Training Center Racing Trainer: Barclay Tagg Bold Leadership looks the part of a racehorse. He resembles his sire, Charismatic, and grandsire, Summer Squall who both have won Triple Crown races. We plan to be patient with him and hopefully give him every opportunity to emulate his sire.

TAPALONG, c, 2 (PLEASANT TAP - LOVE BIRD by Cormorant) In training at: New Episode Training Center Racing Trainer: Barclay Tagg Tapalong has been bred to be a router and has the right conformation for that role. His sire, Pleasant Tap, was a classic, durable horse who also had a good turn of foot. Considering his pedigree and late foaling date (May), Tapalong is expected to mature and be more competitive as a three year-old but then they can fool you.
